Thank you for visiting this website and for your interest and possible support of our Oncology Nursing Fellowship Program.

My wonderful wife Susan lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer in 2013. During our challenging journey together in the face of this terrible disease, we witnessed first-hand the invaluable work and compassionate care of Oncology Nurses. Susan was an extraordinary mother, a loving and devoted wife, and a widely-admired and caring friend to many. In addition to being a successful businesswoman and a Master Gardener, she was also an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer.

In Susan's loving memory and as a tribute to this critical "first line" of caregivers, I have partnered with several leading cancer care Hospitals to establish an Oncology Nursing Fellowship Program for rising senior undergraduate nursing school students. This Summer Intern program provides the student nurse participants with an 8 - 10 week immersion in Oncology Nursing with the objectives of:

  • Providing the Fellows with a comprehensive scope of direct observational and learning experiences in all clinical aspects of Oncology Nursing and exposure to "best practices" in compassionate care
  • Helping inspire and better equip the participants to pursue a career in this critical field, and in doing so, help develop the next generation of Oncology Nurses
  • Improve the quality of care of future cancer patients and their families

In time, we plan to further expand this Fellowship program and to also broaden the scope of our combined efforts to support the professional development of aspiring Oncology Nurses.

There are a variety of ways to donate to support this program. Separate dedicated funds—in the name Susan D. Flynn Oncology Nursing Training & Development Fund—have been established at each partner Hospital, typically within their respective Development Offices. Donations can be made directly to any of our partner Hospitals specifying this particular Fund. I am in the process of establishing a nonprofit entity (a 501(c)(3) organization) which should also be operationally available in the near future and will serve as our primary fundraising vehicle.

A little support can go a long way with you your help! The cost of one Summer Intern in this unique Oncology Nursing Development Program is approximately $5,000. Imagine the number of lives we can positively impact together by developing the next generation of much needed Oncology Nurses!

By clicking on the DONATE links below you will go to the partner Hospital's respective pages where you can select from the various ways to contribute to support this valuable, professional development program for Oncology Nurses.

[Note: Upon IRS approval of my pending 501(c)(3) application, anew icon for my nonprofit entity will be added]

Please feel free to spread the word to anyone you think may have an interest in supporting this important program

Thank you very much!
